Engaging Storyline – A post-apocalyptic retelling of the classic 400-year old novel Journey to the West co-written by famed novelist and screenwriter, Alex Garland.The Premium Edition includes the original critically-acclaimed game, and additional DLC content “Pigsy’s Perfect 10” as well as character enhancement skins Ninja Monkey, Classic Monkey and Sexy Trip.Players take on the role of Monkey, utilizing a mix of combat, strategy and environmental traversal to ensure he and Trip survive the threats and obstacles that stand in the way of their freedom. ENSLAVED centers on the complex relationship between the two main characters. If she dies, he dies and her journey has now become his. She hacks a slave headband and fits it on Monkey, linking them together. Trip quickly realizes that Monkey is her ticket to freedom and is her only hope to survive her perilous journey back home. Monkey, a strong, brutish loner and fellow prisoner also gets free by virtue of his raw power and brawn. Trip, a technologically savvy young woman has been imprisoned by a slave ship but manages to escape using her mental prowess. Mysterious slave ships harvest the dwindling population and take them out west, never to return. 150 years in the future, war and destruction have left the world in ruins with few humans remaining and nature having reclaimed the world. A sequel was planned but later cancelled due to the game's financial underperformance.Follow a gripping, surprise-filled journey as two dissimilar characters form an uneasy partnership in order to survive through a perilous, post-apocalyptic America. A complete version, featuring all downloadable content, was released for PlayStation 3 and Windows on 25 October 2013.
A single-player downloadable content, titled Pigsy's Perfect 10, was released in November 2010. Sales failed to meet Namco Bandai's expectations. Critics praised its graphics, world design, Serkis' performance and Garland's script, though the game drew criticisms for its gameplay and technical shortcomings. The game received generally positive reviews. The team used the Unreal Engine 3 game engine to power Enslaved. Andy Serkis and Lindsey Shaw provided performance capture for the game, and Nitin Sawhney composed the game's soundtrack. Alex Garland was invited to write the game's story, but he became involved in the game's design to ensure the game was consistent throughout. Life After People inspired the game's setting, while the video game Ico inspired the dynamics between the two protagonists. Initially pitched as a CGI film, the game's development began after the teams had halted the development of a sequel to Heavenly Sword.
